This crock pot is really old, rusty and missing a cover. But you know what? It still works and I just can't let myself throw it out.
I have some friends and family members that would look at this picture and applaud my frugality. Then I have others who would shake their head in disbelief and wonder why I don't go get a new crock pot already.
*Chuckle*
Which side of the fence are you on?
I think its awesome! ;)
ReplyDeleteYou have your foil cover for your crock pot...I have one wrench to turn all four knobs on our stove top! Woot, woot, woot!!!!
ReplyDelete(although I might be tempted to mail you a crockpot one of these days!)
Throw it away, my friend. Time for a new one. Not only is there no cover, the bottom is rusting out!!
ReplyDeleteYou can order a cover for it from the Crock-Pot website. I've had to do that for another slow cooker(not Crock-Pot brand) and it was under 10 dollars for a new lid.
ReplyDeletehhmmmm.....I bought a crockpot 14 years ago at a church yard sale for .50. The outside was cracked when I bought it...since then I lost the screw on part of the lid where you lift the lid off, so for years I've put a small container over the little hole when cooking.
ReplyDeleteThen, the lid cracked.....I just kept using it anyway!
Also long ago the knob broke off and I use pliers now to turn it off and on....
Last I had used it I dropped the lid breaking it in half.
I will say I hadn't thought of covering it with foil...great idea there!
I used the lid to our large pan when I cooked in it yesterday, but it's just a bit too big for the top.
Now....with all that said, I have given you a blog award and I hope you will hop over and check it out. http://marshasspot.blogspot.com/2010/12/life-is-good-blog-award.html
Way to go! I love to eke out every last possible use of an item, and find that I'm most sentimentally connected to items I've managed to pay next to nothing for. Yep, a little weird, but it brings me a bit of satisfaction to wear things out far beyond the normal lifespan.

throw it away! But then, I'm not at all frugal. We don't eat left overs and I use disposable diapers. So you know...
